Boxing accessories and their benefits during boxing

Gloves

Gloves are the most important boxing accessory. Thanks to shock absorption, they protect the hands of the athlete and the body of the opponent from serious injuries. In addition, boxing gloves increase the weight of the hands. This develops strength, power, and punching speed.

There are several types of boxing gloves, depending on the training goals and the athlete's physical fitness. The standard option for non-professional athletes is training gloves. They can spar and work on shells. Gloves are with them that this sport is primarily associated with. But do not think that you just need to buy one pair that will last for many years.

There are different types of boxing gloves, and you will probably need several sets at once. Firstly, this is a projectile pair for working on a bag. Gloves in sizes 8 and 10 are ideal for such training. The gloves for working on the paws are slightly larger in sizes 12-14. But there is one caveat: you may not be allowed to spar in such equipment. So for "practice", you'd better have a certain size 16 pair.

Bandages

Bandages increase the safety and comfort of the workout. The accessory absorbs moisture, helps to better fix the glove on the hand, and creates an additional layer of protection.

There are three standard ways to wind a bandage on the hands: simple, figure eight, and for injuries.

Simple:

1. Wrap the bandage from the thumb along the back of the hand 2-3 times around the wrist.

2. Make a loop at each finger, going around the palm.

3. Fix the end of the bandage.

Eight:

1. Put your thumb through the loop.

2. Wrap the bandage from the thumb along the back of the hand 2-3 times around the wrist.

3. Circle the bandage several times around the thumb.

4. Fix the end of the bandage.

In case of injuries:

1. Put your thumb through the loop.

2. Fold part of the bandage into 2-3 layers and put it on the knuckles.

3. Wrap the free end of the bandage around the folded layers.

4. Wrap the bandage 2 times around your wrist.

Helmet

The helmet protects the athlete's head from strong blows, concussions, cuts, and other serious injuries. Of the minuses - limited visibility and reduced dynamism of movements. There are many models of helmets that differ in the degree of closeness and material.

Cap

The cap protects the athlete's teeth from blows. Restoring broken teeth is expensive. Therefore, this article advises you to purchase this sports accessory.

A mouthguard is usually used only on the upper jaw for boxing. Since 80% of injuries occur in the anterior upper incisor. Also, the lower mouth guard is not needed since the upper jaw with an accessory covers the lower one.

A budget mouthguard can be found at any sporting goods store. It should sit well and not press. Such a mouthguard will ideally fit the athlete's jaw and fit much better to the teeth. Expensive models are made according to a cast by a dental technician.

For long-term use, the mouth guard must be washed after each use. This will prevent bad smells/tastes and the development of harmful bacteria. In addition, mouthguards should not be given to other athletes because it's unhygienic.

Paws

Paws are used to practice hit strength and accuracy. Often, inventory replaces a punching bag. Since the paws allow you to work out strikes against a moving target, however, the sports accessory may only be used in the presence of another athlete.
